Someone from Europe came last year. I don’t think there is a limit although the cost could be limiting.

Your post “March 8, 2012 at 5:34 PM” uses the word “there”. In that sense it is possessive which is “their”; e.g. Their toy.

I appreciate your help in being the grammatical foil in this thread. I think we have the resolve to make this thread into such a conversation that it will become infamously known in TZ as “the thread”. 🙂

What an information-rich show! I am usually not proactively interested in core db server products, but the interview kept me interested all the way to the end.

Thanks guys for this wonderful interview, love it.

I have to say that the MySQL workbench is horrible to use, very slow and kind of buggy. I installed it and then reverted back to just using MySQL browser. Nice and fast.

I don’t know why, but it seems to me that Oracle is always trying to make things complicated. Think of the installation of the Oracle database…Maybe it was at that time when I used it, not sure these days.

Anyhow, as a developer and search engine technologist, I don’t like slow software, also, I like simplicity in the software. I hope Oracle keep the MySQL tradition of being a fast db server.

Hah! Told you guys before in some comment somewhere (possibly startupguild) that Sphinx was where you want to look. It really is totally 100% awesome at what it does. It also indexed far more quickly then you would imagine and just works.

Interesting stuff though. I am tempted to drop in the Percona server mysqld and see how things fare as my database is getting quite large now ( 80 gig or so ) and some free performance improvements would be useful.

What an interesting interview.
I’ll definitely be checking out Percona, with a debian package it should be trivial.
Lots of interesting takeaways from the show as well as a good broad unbiased lay of the database land.
