Looking back there were so many easy paths. Sigh. 😉 Anyway, keep plugging away on your app.

I agree that with StartupGuild Justin has truly blossomed into womanhood and I’m just happy that I was there to witness it for myself. 😉

@Jason – I have been for a long time, possibly as long as you with appignite, plugging away at a project. Hearing the “outrageous” idea of building multiple online startups at once. Made me realise a certain aspect of my own project was “outrageous” …. duplicate live setups, automated deployment, iphone app + website integration + bookmarklet + all the other things…

Listening to Justins response about “push out” a “user api” of sorts, it made me realise again, I already have a pretty simple product which works but needs many iterations on it. Hearing you talk over the months, its clear you yourself have a product, but almost weekly you need to add more features due to a client or hackernews article (Im thinking of security here) 😉

Please dont release your app! As I really want to push my ugly version 1 out the door before you 😛

@Justin – I cant quite pinpoint it but im going to say “startupguild” changed you a little. On the podcast your stronger and challenging, probing Justin and your guests in a good way.

I really have enjoyed the journey you too have created to date and I await more.

I was so happy to hear that Colby bounced back and laughed out loud when I heard that he was asking the hazmat nurse for pizza. Sounds like he is one tough little dude.

I’m thinking something like this: form a team on StartupGuild, build MVP in 2 weeks, get first users. If MVP is not released, you failed 🙂 All released MVPs are put in one big poll and community votes for a favorite. Plus we can have awards for those who got most users or managed to get paying customers in 2 weeks. I’ve got couple of “weekend project” ideas that would be fun to try during Startupathon.

Jason, just shoot me a note about the login. I used my Gmail address and my standard “beta tester” password — but she no letta me in. If you can reset my password, that would be great.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of assuming something is wrong (I’ve done that my entire life), but in this case, I was actually sheepish about letting you know I changed my mind about the app I was planning to build.

It’s truly an earth shaking experience to have a child become severely injured or sick. I hate even thinking about it.

When I mentioned your name in the context of being a beta tester it was in no means to imply that I thought you’re weren’t doing a good job. It’s just that since I hadn’t heard anything from you I assumed that you either found Appignite too hard to use or lacking sufficient capability. What I’ve learned here is that I shouldn’t be assuming things and rather should endeavor to stay in close contact with anyone testing the product. It kind of reminds me of the very mistake I made with my Google acquisition that didn’t happen. I didn’t hear back from them for a couple of months and just assumed that I knew why (and was ultimately incorrect). How many times am I going to have to learn this damn lesson!!!

By the way, I don’t know why you’re unable to login, but I’ll try to sort that out for you. I absolutely didn’t lock you out.

You’re very right to give Justin a hard time about his whining about Pluggio’s rate of growth. In fact, now that I think about it I think you’d be right to give him a hard time about just about anything. 😉

Justin needs to write a blog post entitled “Stop whining and start marketing!” If executed well – i.e. edited by yours truly 😉 – I think he could ring the bell again. I’d write it myself, but since I still haven’t even released Appignite, I think it would come across as lacking credibility. 😉

Great show! Jason, as the father of two young boys, I can imagine what you went through. When my youngest was born, the doctor thought he was at risk for cardiac failure so he was medi-vac’d to Vancouver Children’s Hospital… I stood there as he and his mom flew off in a chopper. Turned out to be a small heart defect that healed in his first year, but man, was I freaked out.

Since you mentioned my name in the podcast as the lame-ass beta tester who wasn’t using AppIgnite as he promised, I thought I should respond publically. 🙂

I’m actually still very interested and excited in what you’re building(!), but unfortunately, I am not as excited about my original idea (Spotlite.me). So without a great idea to sink my teeth into, I’d just be playing around with AppIgnite — which is not a fair test of your application. I’m toying around with a new idea, and AppIgnite may be the right solution to prove out the concept… I’m just not quite sure yet. Also, I’m not sure if it was your intention or not… but I seem to be locked out of AppIgnite. I thought perhaps you revoked my privileges. “No soup for you” kinda thing…

Justin, I think you’re missing the big picture for Pluggio. $1700/mth is pretty awesome, and waiting 9 months to grow it to the level you desire is nothing. Most of us can’t even find an idea that gets real traction, so you’re already well on your way to success. Stop whining and start marketing. 😉

Later,
Lance

I really do appreciate it. It’s a huge relief that everything turned out okay, but it was a good reminder of how precarious life is.

@Rory & @Yeit – I hate to agree with you because it ultimately means I’m agreeing with Justin and you know how much I hate to do that 😉 … but you’re right. I should just stay focused and try to get Appignite released already.

re: I agree with Rory and Justin on the multiple apps, sounds like one of those great ideas you had “last thing at night” but under scrutiny it doesn’t add up.

Keep focused on what’s important for a stable release, feature creep is what worries me with a project of that size and scope.

Just for the record, I really enjoy the Discussion and Interview shows – they complement each other perfectly.

Jason re: App Ignite, take the advice from Justin.
The 5-10 diluted businesses doesn’t seem like the way to go. (I’m half through the pod, so maybe you can decided to focus on one)
Also get something out there! You seem to be going back instead of making progress.

I had something similar when I was young (5 years) specificly Septicemia. Bacterial meningitis. I don’t remember much other then being in hospital for a week or so on IV and the pain of the antibiotics that they gave me.

Glad to hear he bounced back though.

You mention him a lot, and I have 2 boys so I can relate to it. There is nothing more crushing than something serious happening to the kids.
