If you are looking for a good Mac image editor I would really recommend Acorn. Good price and great software.

Can I offer some other suggestions of good free software.

IDE: Netbeans for PHP
FTP: Cyberduck
BitTorrent: Transmission
Git: GitX or Gitbox
Opening archives: The Unarchiver
Office: NeoOffice
Note taking: Notational Velocity (Syncs to web and iphone and v FAST)
Image Optimisation: ImageOptim
Hard Drive backup: Carbon Copy Cloner & Firewire Drive
Offsite backup: Crashplan

@Ben – Yeah, Guyon convinced me to use Subversion for AppIgnite development which is working out pretty well, although if I was really cool I’d be using Git. 😉

@Boyter – Yeah, unfortunately the daily show didn’t quite work out like we thought it might. But the good news is that even if we try some different things, we’ll always listen very carefully to our listeners and if they aren’t happy we’ll just revert back – kind of like source control! 😉

@Felix – The article looks interesting and I’ve just printed it out for some late night reading.

Also, thanks so much for the generous donation! 😉 That really shocked me when I saw it pop-up in my inbox from IndieGoGo. Frankly, I wasn’t all that optimistic about Justin’s idea to try fundraising for the show, but it looks like I may be proven wrong.

@Philippe – Yeah, I thought Alex did a great job and added an extra dose of energy and humor. We’re definitely going to have him back.

I’m glad you find it to be a positive that we keep trying new things even if they don’t always work out. Our next idea is to try doing some TWiT-like panel shows with two our three guests all at the same time. Imagine for instance having Peldi, Derek Sivers and Gabriel Weinberg on all at the same time?! We’ll see if we can make it happen, but I think it could really work.

You know, I actually tried to listen to a similar show to Tech News Today (Buzz Out Loud – also with Tom Merritt) and I found it hard to listen to as well. I miss Stack Overflow and Cranky Geeks, which have both gone off the air (or web I guess I should day).

The show was great. “Artificial Sorta-intelligence” had me cracking up! I just listened to the last three episodes of the Tech News Daily podcast. Wow, talk about making me appreciate TechZing more. I’m offended by the seemingly endless stream of ignorant drivel called Tech News Daily. If I hear another infinitely corny joke from those glorified radio personalities, I think I might just die. TechZing is an entirely different animal. Keep up the great work guys!

Vodafone are pushing this Web Widget standard because, quite frankly, they have totally missed the boat on the whole mobile Apps thing what with iOS and Android cornering the market. Vodafone therefore clearly need to embrace the open source standard which is pretty their only route to getting a foothold in the market.
