  1. Wow, this is huge. The best way to mark the 100th episode milestone.
And I think that indirectly we all work for Calacanis.

  2. bcurdy says:

Oh boy, my 2 favorite podcasts in one… Amazing! That’s definitely a great way to celebrate your 100th episode 🙂 Congrats guys!

  3. Jason says:

    @Udi – That’s really funny. 😉

  4. Jason says:

@bcurdy – Yeah, it’s hard to believe we already hit the century mark. But it was a real coup that Justin was able to land Jason Calacanis for the show and that he was willing to spend as much time with us as he did.

  5. Outstanding interview. Once you overcame the wordpress issue (I can’t wait to hear Jason’s thoughts on that!).

I put this next to Dvorak as one of your better interviews. Perhaps its due to both of those guys being in the spotlight all the time that they come across better? I also think that TWiT is pretty much dead without either Calacanis or Dvorak. I do hope they can reconcile as the show is better for it. Without one of them its not really worth listening to these days.

    Anyways grats on 100 episodes.

  6. Jason says:

@Ben Boyter – Thanks, I thought the show worked out well too. Jason Calacanis is a really funny and interesting guy, so it was exciting to have chance to speak with him on the show.

Yeah, I told Justin that he needed to fix the WordPress issue since he’s a superfan, but he didn’t take the bait really. 😉

Without Dvorak or Calacanis TWiT is just plain boring. On a show like that I think you have to have someone who’s willing to call as spade a spade without being an ass about it and few people can pull that off very well. Plus, both of those guys have entertaining personalities.

Now for the next 100 shows!!! 😉

  7. Hey, I don’t know when did you put photos on website since I’m usually following techzing from google reader, and it is not that I’m focused only on your faces but was I surprised when I finally saw Jason’s photo on top of techzing page !!! 🙂

First 100 episodes you were little thiner and more nerdier in my imagination, but now you give a whole new level of seriousness to your persona and the show 😉

Justin: you’ll have to spend many more hours in the gym to look tougher than Jason! 😉

Congratulations and keep on doing the same thing !

Seriously, you can really change someone’s life with all these ideas that you share so freely …
You expelled boredom from my daily commute almost two years ago, and now that I don’t need to commute any more I like your show even more 🙂

    Thanks for everything …

    Humble listener….

  8. Justin says:

@Vlad – Re: ” Seriously… ” Awesome comment Vlad thanks so much for listening. Makes my day to get nice comments like that.

  9. Scott says:

I agree with Vladimir about Jason’s picture. I seriously had Micheal Bolton from Office Space playing the part of Jason in my head until this week:)

  10. Jason says:

@Vladimir and Scott – Yeah, I guess I was kind of cursed with a Steve Jobs voice. ;(

  11. Andrew says:

I always pictured him having dark hair.

  12. Justin says:

This is how I pictured Jason till I met him…

  13. LOL at the above.

Sorry jason but thats what i had you figured as too. I was not expecting the beach bum look you have going there.

  14. Am I the only one intimidated by Jason’s photo?
He sounds like a nice guy, but if he’ll ask me ‘what time is it’ on the street, I’ll probably give him my watch and run the hell out of there 🙁

The voice clearly doesn’t match the Jason’s look 😛

  15. Jason says:

    @Udi Mosayev – Hey, at least I’m smiling. 😉

  16. First I saw that I don’t have an avatar image so quickly repaired that, now you have one more smiling face on this page 🙂

Second, just took a small ride and listened to some techzing 100 episode…

It just does not click! Give me back my old image of Jason …
I’m listening to his voice, the image I’ve been building for last couple of years appears and then face of this new guy starts pushing in 🙂

I can think of only one solution – next big thing – TechZing video podcast !

So finish your audio equipment upgrade (btw. good job so far.), and then start a donation drive for a nice camera 🙂

I know its tough chance that it will happen soon, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Just imagine how much more inspirational could your words be if you could wave your hands in front your audience 🙂

In the mean time a youtube video can fix this dual personality dilemma 😉

@On Topic: Good talk with Calacanis!

  17. Jason and Justin, congrats on getting to episode 100!
We all know that you are putting a lot of energy and investment into this great show and we really appreciate it. TechZing is our mastermind group!

It was fun listening to Jason Calacanis. What a personality!

  18. I can’t say I got as much actionable information from this one as some of the other recent episodes, but it more than made up for it with personality.

  19. Gratz on episode 100, guys! Great episode, too.

I always thought you were a bit fussy about the sound quality of the show, but then I went around checking out some other tech podcasts this weekend, and…dude, I’m converted. You guys sound like you’re sitting next to me, while some of the other shows are more like a really crappy cellphone connection. Good job!

About the face thing, I for some reason had Jason Fried’s face in my mind when hearing Jason’s voice. Must be the first name thing. But since everybody’s going on about Jason’s photo, do you know what I had in mind when hearing Justin’s voice in the beginning? You know the food and wine guy in “Queer eye…”? 🙂

  20. I’ve consumed a lot of content that JC has put out and this was one of the most revealing I’ve heard. He went deep into topics, such as his falling out with Leo, that I’ve only seen covered shallowly elsewhere. Congrats on a great interview!

While I was also a little surprised at Jason’s surfer look I have to LOL at the feedback. I get the same thing all the time, even after people meet me in person. They think I’m a typical geek but then when they see my bodybuilding pics it changes their perception significantly.

  21. Jason says:

@Dan DeFelippi – I’m glad you liked the show. We both had a lot of fun interviewing JC.

  22. Yeti says:

Congratulations on 100 guys! I started listening back when your were in single digits, time flies!

You have a solid archive with some great discussion and interviews. If you did want to monetise the archive you could look at mailing out a physical DVD with all the shows maybe? Looking forward to the next 100

Really enjoyed this interview, especially when Justin ‘ticked off’ JC for munching on the cough sweets!
