  1. Oh man, I can’t WAIT to listen to this one!

  2. iSoftwareMaker says:

I guess Elon said No πŸ™
and this is equally or more interesting πŸ™‚ but i did feel a little bit like a voyeur, it is obvious that all of you are very lucky men to have these women in your life`s
@Justin Georgie has a very sexy voice

  3. Alfie John says:

That was fun to listen to and at the same time it sounded like they had fun doing it!

I’ve never though about what my wife thinks I do, but this was a bit of an eye opener. “Coming up for air” was a great way of putting it. I’m thinking about getting her to listen to it so I can say “See, I’m not crazy. We just sometimes get consumed”.

@Georgie: I got a lot of weird looks when I burst out laughing on train about TAG. That made my day.

  4. Justin says:

@iSoftwareMaker – How dare you sir! I shall challenge you to a duel, and I shall slice you from nape to chops!

  5. Aaron says:

    Great episode!

  6. iSoftwareMaker says:

    @Justin
Challenge accepted do you prefer :
    A) European style Fencing or
    B) Japanese style
after receiving your answer i will need 2 to 5 years to learn said skill and then you shall have your duel sir πŸ™‚

P.S I hear you are something of a sf geek and am wondering if you know about a tv show that was aired in the early 2000’s set in around 2100 about a detective investigating multinational pharmaceutic company that has ties with terrorist and what not, it had great visual effects for that time but i have forgotten the name and cant find it. If you help mi find this show i will sign you petition to bring back Stargate Universe. That is if you ever start one.:-)

  7. Raul says:

Very entertaining episode! I will make my girlfriend listen to this when I start geeking out too much, just to show i’m not the only one πŸ™‚

    Keep going guys!

  8. Best moments of the show:

    1. TAG
    2. The bachelorette!? You are never going to live that one down.
    3. “Come out of your nerd hole.”

Great work, and congratulations on 200 epic episodes.

  9. Jason says:

@Rob Walling – Listen, if you’ve been watching Project Runway then I’m not so sure you’re in much of a position to talk. πŸ˜‰

Please thank Sherry again for coming on the show. She did a great job.

  10. Congratulations on 200 awesome episodes!

I enjoy listening to the podcast very much and this episode was outstanding! I am already looking forward to episode 400.

Really cool to hear the wifes talk about all the stuff and I have to admit, that I seem to share some of the traits of Jason, Justin and Rob. Makes me wonder how my wife is able to put up with this.

Thanks to Georgie, Sandy and Sherry for doing this insanely cool episode!

PS: I will support any motion to get rid of the guys and have the gals take over! πŸ˜‰

  11. Tony says:

Phenomenal episode (and I’m only 26m in. lol). TAG? Not only is that hysterically funny, but I’m curious how many guys will now start doing similar things. Great job, ladies.

    Press Release:
Andreessen Horowitz announces unprecedented $146m investment in Justin Vincent’s thinkAbout Applications, causing many in the investment arena to call this the Color of 2012, albeit an investment that actually makes sense.

  12. I am only half-way through the show since done with my hour commute to Denver but can’t wait to drive back and listen to the other half.
Great job ladies with the conversation and the funny stories. I will definitely ask Nora my wife to listen to the show. I have had her listen to a couple episodes between Scott Hanselman and his wife Mo on similar topics (listenhere and here).
    Fun parts so far:
    – “The Internet did not exist back then” – yep was the same for me and my wife
    – “I tell him 5 times about it and he cannot remember I even mentioned it” – wow that one is so true at home
    – TAG
    – “I am project managing Jason”
Btw I love the voices too. You guys need to start your own show! πŸ™‚

  13. Congrats guys on 200 episodes! Nice to hear a different perspective on Techzing! I think you may have uncovered a new podcast – Techzing for Women?

Loved β€œcome out of your nerd hole.”

  14. Tony says:

Listened to the entire episode and they did an outstanding job and were extremely entertaining. My fiance and I have a similar joke to The Nerd Hole.

They are all saints for putting up with tech entrepreneurs. My first wife was a CPA, which in no way was a good fit for my entrepreneurial mindset and ADD-addled brain. lol As the ladies were talking about the financial roller coaster that we bring to the table, I couldn’t help but think it was probably a good thing a couple of them have psychology training. My live-in girlfriend is a cardiac surgeon, and it’s amazing how much better of a fit we are. Her work hours consume much of her day, whereas my work vs. free hours are blurred because of the enjoyment we all seem to get from constant informational stimuli (work-related or other interests), so we do have mutually conducive, albeit hectic, schedules. It also helps that she has a school loan pile of debt the size of a mountain, so she understands the financial loss and gain that both of our careers can afford us, or potentially afford us.

Again, great show. I’ve paired down my podcast subscriptions, but both shows are my must-listens. Cheers.

  15. Harry says:

    Congrats on 200 episodes!

Lots of parallels to my relationship with wife & kids, too. It’s cool that we all have such supportive spouses. I guess it wouldn’t be possible to be a software business owner otherwise…

For what it’s worth, in my house it’s called “The Nerdery”.

  16. A couple other fun segments in the second hour of the show:
    – the “Work Wife”
    – how hard it is to avoid scope creep beyond the MVP target
    – Nerd T-Shirts

Also extra-congrats to Georgie on her interview leadership skills – that made the conversation flow really smooth! πŸ™‚
    Again … a “must-listen” show!

  17. Great episode. However, I was shocked and appalled to hear that Jason hated the name “Techzing.” What’s that all about. Best podcast name ever, if you change it I’ll have to switch to Startups for the Rest of Us.

Out of curiosity, what other names have you guys been kicking around?

  18. nethy says:

    Wow. Very strange.

I started listening and couldn’t go on. I had a powerful feeling eavesdropping.

  19. Aleksander says:

I was very skeptical about the whole Wives Show idea. I was putting off listening to this one… But now that I’m through, all I can say is

    BEST. SHOW. EVER! πŸ˜€

  20. Doug Martin says:

Great episode. I wonder if my wife will listen to it…

  21. David Walz says:

Awesome episode! I’m glad you guys decided to go with this decision for the big 200.

I laughed pretty hard about the Bachelorette comment because my girlfriend got me hooked on it for a while. It’s like a train wreck, just because i’m watching doesn’t mean I like train wrecks…right?

P.S. I knew Jeff was going to win.. he’s an entrepreneur.

  22. Mohammed Firdaus says:

My favorite part was Sandy describing Jason’s hardheadedness – ‘Rawww Rawwwww Rawww’. I’ll play that in my head the next time Jason and Justin argue about something on Techzing.

  23. Wow! I loved this episode.
Although I’m not married yet, but I know how difficult it might be to have a healthy relationship and entrepreneurial lifestyle.
It’s a really interesting episode, and you guys are lucky to have such great women in your life! πŸ™‚

  24. Toby says:

Great podcast guys, and congratulations on hitting 200.

I actually set up something similar to TAG – a reminder to text my significant other asking how her day is going.

Rob has gained even more of my respect due to his t-shirt collection! I am in a unique posistion where my fiancee actually buys me geek t-shirts, guess I lucked out!

  25. Great episode ladies!

I’m going to try and get my wife to listen to it with me at some point, I’m pretty sure she’ll be able to draw parallels to our family life.

And as a bonus, I’m pretty sure I heard Sandy pronounce niche correctly! Or at least the same as how I pronounce it πŸ™‚

My nerd hole is called the Command Centre, and when I go to to meetups, they’re called Computer Club.

Congratulations to Justin and Jason on their 200th episode, please keep up the hard work.

  26. Jason says:

@Everyone – Justin and I both really appreciate all the positive feedback on the show. We had a sense that the concept could work and we were excited to give it a try, but it was still a pretty big risk given that none of the three woman had had any real experience with doing a podcast. What a relief that it turned out so well. (phew!)

@Harry – It’s the Bat Cave, not the Nerd Hole, damnit! How many time do I have to tell her? (sigh) πŸ˜‰

@Dave Reynolds – I know and I’m sorry, but I’ve never liked the name TechZing, and in fact, I kind of wince every time I say it, just like I wince every time I hear a recording of my own voice. (again, sigh) Recently, I wanted to change the name to something like Project X, but then some stupid teen movie came out with that name, so it’s back to the drawing board. I guess we could go with Project Y, but that was the original name for the Manhattan Project, which probably wouldn’t serve as the best namesake.

@David Walz – Exactly, just because I watched the Bachelorette with Sandy doesn’t mean I liked it! Well, maybe just a little … sorta. And three cheers for one-F Jef! I mean, … wait, what am talking up? Somebody shoot me.

@Mohammed Firdaus – Yeah, I guess Sandy tagged me pretty good with the β€˜Rawww Rawwwww Rawww’. πŸ˜‰

@Udi Mosayev – You’re absolutely right, I think all three of us lucked out with the women we married.

@Dave Marshall – Both Command Centre and Computer Club are hilarious!

  27. Anselmo says:

Awesome .. one of your top episodes ever.
    Thanks guys…

  28. This is my favorite episode you’ve done so far. Awesome job on everybody’s part.

  29. Congrats on 200 episodes guys and congrats to the ladies for doing this interview. You all sound like totally awesome partners and your men should be very grateful to have you in their lives and whip them into line.

I was so impressed I have forced my lady friend to listen to it as it might explain to her why I do some of the things I do.

  30. Excellent show ladies.

I can’t imagine the bullets Jason, Justin, and Rob were sweating waiting to hear what the said about you.

  31. Hape Sharklaser says:

Nice podcast. Interestingly, it seems at least one of you husbands could be diagnosed with ADHD (ADD Inattentive type or Impulsive).

I’m not sure if this sounds incredibly challenging or maybe you’re already aware of it. It could also be totally incorrect! However, if you feel like things are harder than they need to be then get yourself checked out by a qualified professional and maybe have a look at treatment options.

    Lots of entrepreneurs have this.

  32. Wow… Awesome idea guys and excellent show ladies!

    Best anniversary episode ever!

Can’t wait to listen to it again with my lady πŸ˜‰

ps. Not to disappoint you guys (because you were not even in it πŸ˜‰ ) – but if I would have to recommend an episode of Techzing to first time listener – this one would be it !
So much about techie-entrepreneur-geek lifestyle just hit the spot…

    Thank you!

  33. Nick Burdick says:

Absolutely fantastic. That was one of my favorite episodes. Great job Ladies!

Justin, Jason…. they’re giving you guys a run for your money!

    Nick

  34. Am just halfway into the show and I’m thinking “It’s just like a TZ Interview – but which Georgie taking the role of Jason” LOL

… and it’s really interesting to hear stories that we’ve heard from the regular shows told from from the wives perspective (like Sandy getting suits for Jason during the early days)

Great job of putting this together… and seriously the wives should have their own TZ spinoff podcast πŸ˜€

  35. Rdbhost says:

I felt the episode was fascinating because it was revealing about people we had gotten to know.

If any of you are first-time podcast listeners starting with this episode, what impression did it make on you?

I hear seemingly real conflict between Justin & Jason on many episodes, and I’ve often wondered why you two keep coming back for more; In this episode I learn there are (heretofore) un-credited moderators working for TZL. That explains it.

    Thank you to the peace-keepers.

  36. Jason says:

@Rdbhost – There has indeed been real disagreement and conflict between Justin and myself, but ultimately that probably helps to make the show a little more interesting. Two people agreeing on everything is usually pretty boring to listen to. πŸ˜‰ But you’re right, Sandy and Georgie have both played an important role in helping us to understand one another’s viewpoint and if it wasn’t for them then our partnership might have blown apart long ago.

  37. Justin says:

@Rdbhost – I agree with Jason. Our disagreements are not rigged like WWF. However, I’m very hopeful that there will be less epic disagreements in the future now that we have dealt with some of the larger issues.
